The month of April has been designated Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) in the United States. The goal of SAAM is to raise public awareness about sexual violence and to educate communities and individuals on how to prevent sexual violence.
It’s SAAM 2013!!! This year’s theme: It’s Time. Prevent Sexual Violence at Every Age.
What can we all do to prevent sexual violence?
-Question how the media portrays masculinity and feminity.
-Talk to people about consent.
-Ask friends and peers to think about the words they use.
-Invite a sexual violence prevention educator to talk with your business, community organization or school.
-Listen to and support survivors.
